The exclusive pieces of Burelarte are made in Burela (Lugo), where they are individually crafted, refined, and decorated. No two pieces are alike, and the small variations in color, decoration, or thickness are a sign of their high quality, not a manufacturing defect.
Burelarte uses a porcelain composition made from a blend of kaolin, clay, feldspar, and quartz, creating a paste that, once glazed, is fired for 24 hours at 1,280 °C. This process produces a noble material of great strength, density, and impermeability.

To achieve their unique colors, they use non-toxic glazes, free of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, or selenium, in compliance with the strictest international health regulations. Their non-porous nature prevents the absorption of dust, pollen, odors, flavors, or germs. All pieces are safe for dishwashers, microwaves, freezers, and conventional ovens. They are easy to clean and excellent thermal insulators, helping to preserve the temperature of food.
Their special composition resists the normal impacts of intensive use and prevents micro-chipping. If subjected to a very strong blow, they break into large pieces, making it unlikely that fragments go unnoticed and could be accidentally ingested with food.
The soul of these creations is Michal Lis, an experienced bartender who has won several international awards throughout his career, including a gold medal at the World Cocktail Championship in Cuba 2022. At present, Lis has set aside bartending service to focus on a new mission: creating innovative glass concepts that turn every serving into an act of Art.
Thanks to his professional background, he knows exactly what features and qualities glasses must have to be truly functional.
His crystal-clear glass is designed and crafted in one of the world’s finest glassmaking regions, using traditional artisanal techniques.

In the hospitality industry, details aren't just an add-on; they're an essential part of the experience. That's why, when we choose a brand like Mepra, we do so with the conviction that quality, design, and functionality must coexist in perfect harmony.
Mepra is an Italian manufacturer with a long tradition of creating high-end cutlery. Its history is deeply intertwined with the metalworking expertise of Northern Italy, a region where steelmaking has been part of the industrial culture for generations. This heritage is evident in every piece: precision in the finishes, durability for everyday use, and a sense of balance that can only be achieved through experience.
The quality of Mepra cutlery is no accident. The careful selection of materials, the control of processes, and the attention to detail guarantee pieces designed for demanding professional use. Cutlery that performs well in the dining room, feels comfortable in the hand, and maintains its appearance over time, even in high-traffic environments. One of Mepra's greatest strengths is its ability to interpret contemporary design without losing its identity. Its collections combine clean lines, well-studied proportions, and a recognizable aesthetic. There is no excess or artifice: there is intention, coherence, and a clear understanding of how cutlery is actually used in a restaurant.

Working with Mepra means choosing cutlery that enhances without overpowering, that complements the dish and strengthens the diner's experience.
Because when tradition meets design and innovation, the result is a lasting tool at the service of gastronomy.

At Casa Gay, we have spent many years doing what is part of our business: making the right choices. Every product we add to our catalog is the result of a carefully considered decision, based on experience, industry knowledge, and, above all, the real needs of hospitality professionals.
That's why we are especially excited to announce the addition of Toyo-Sasaki Glass to our catalog, one of Japan's most renowned glassware brands, which Casa Gay will now distribute exclusively.

Japanese Tradition and Modern Technology
Toyo-Sasaki Glass was founded in 2002 following the merger of Toyo Glass and Sasaki Glass, two historic companies in the Japanese glass industry whose origins date back to the late 19th century, during the country's modernization process in the Meiji era.
Since then, both companies have developed their own techniques, combining craftsmanship with advanced industrial production, and have contributed to consolidating the tradition of Japanese glass. The merger of the two companies created Japan's largest glassware manufacturer and a brand now found in restaurants, hotels, and homes worldwide.
But beyond its history, what truly defines Toyo-Sasaki is its unwavering commitment to quality and innovation in glass.
One of Toyo-Sasaki's most distinctive features is its development of proprietary technologies that enhance glass strength without compromising elegance or lightness.
Its renowned HS (Hard Strong) series has become a benchmark in the Japanese hospitality industry. These glasses incorporate special treatments that reinforce the upper rim—the area most frequently impacted during daily service—significantly increasing their durability.
Some models utilize thermal tempering processes, while the more advanced lines incorporate technologies such as Ion Strong®, an ionic hardening system that strengthens the entire glass surface through ion exchange. The result is a piece that is more resistant to impacts and scratches, while maintaining exceptional transparency and a lightweight feel.
Laboratory tests show resistance increases of over 60% compared to conventional glass, making these pieces a particularly suitable option for high-traffic environments such as restaurants, bars, and hotels.
In addition to strength, Toyo-Sasaki has developed its own materials, such as Fine Crystal®, a lead-free crystal that offers exceptional clarity and meets current sustainability and food safety requirements.
This combination of transparency, lightness, and durability explains why the brand has sold hundreds of millions of pieces in the Japanese hospitality sector over the past few decades.

A choice consistent with our way of working.
At Casa Gay, we have always understood our work as more than just product distribution. From our beginnings—when Josep Gay Vila founded the company in Barcelona at the end of the 19th century—to today, with the third generation of the Ortega family at the helm, we have maintained the same philosophy: selecting products that truly add value for our customers.
We collaborate closely with manufacturers, chefs, and industry professionals to offer solutions that meet the demands of contemporary kitchens and dining rooms. Our experience allows us to anticipate trends, manage inventory efficiently, and ensure that professionals always have the right product when they need it.
The addition of Toyo-Sasaki to our catalog reflects precisely this approach to the craft: tradition, rigor, and attention to detail, but also innovation and a forward-looking perspective.
Because after so many years, we continue to believe in the same thing: good service always begins with a good product.
